Hyacyst® (sodium hyaluronate) is a bladder instillation indicated for the temporary replenishment of the GAG layer in the following bladder conditions; interstitial cystitis (IC), painful bladder syndrome (PBS), haemorrhagic cystitis, recurrent bacterial cystitis, radiation induced cystitis and chemotherapy induced cystitis.
Hyacyst® (sodium hyaluronate) is available in strengths of 40mg/50ml and 120mg/50ml which are supplied as Pre-Filled Syringes (PFS). Hyacyst® PFS packs include a catheter adaptor to enable Hyacyst® PFS to be used with a wide variety of available catheters, making them suitable for self-instillation at home.
Hyacyst® (sodium hyaluronate) is approved for prescribing in the Community on FP10 prescriptions in the UK.
Hyacyst® (sodium hyaluronate) 40 PFS was the first 40mg/50ml sodium hyaluronate bladder instillation in a pre-filled syringe.
Hyacyst® (sodium hyaluronate) 120 PFS is a higher dose option when increased replenishment of the GAG layer is required.
In a 2014 randomised study, Hyacyst® (sodium hyaluronate) 120mg/50ml was proven to be as effective as combination treatment iAluRil® (sodium hyaluronate, sodium chondroitin sulfate and calcium chloride) in reducing symptoms in patients with IC/PBS1.
